Local Field to Fork students gathered up their tomatoes, their spinach, their green peppers, their basil and their oregano.
They had been waiting for the right moment to pick their produce from their pizza garden.
Some of the produce looked good, some, not so good.
You know how it is - gardening has lots of variables.
Whatever looked good, the students hauled on the bus and brought to Fuel Pizza.
They used their own produce to make personal, vegetarian pizzas on multi-grain crust.
Polo Ridge headed to Fuel in Southend last week. Manager Bob Puhl and the Fuel team showed the students around the kitchen.
The students then received the top secret lesson at Fuel Pizza - how to make the best pizza pie in Charlotte.
The students were instructed on how much sauce to use, how many toppings, how much cheese and the perfect amount of herbs.
What came out of the oven, was a healthy, bubbly and tasty pizza made by students.
Ms. Jones and Ms. White from Polo Ridge helped get the students ready for the field trip.
Thanks for coming into FUEL to make your pizzas. We hope you have a great summer!
