Spring 2013 Participating Schools Announced!

It was a great surprise at Miss "G's" class on Friday.  Students at Nations Ford Elementary were told they are one of the 15 schools selected to particpate in the Field to Fork program.  Field to Fork program reps were there to congratulate the students.  FUEL Pizza Manager, Marc Zimmerman delivered some yummy Veggie Pizzas on Whole Wheat crust to kick off the program.  I was there in the classroom, and I can honestly say no one, and I mean not-a-one student picked off the vegetables on their pizzas, or refused to eat the veggie pizza (which is always something I slightly scared of).  I even heard some, "mmm yum" and "I love this pizza."

After the pizza party, we went out to look at the future pizza gardens.  We've got some cleaning up work to do around the gardens, but once that's done - the students will be ready to plant their Spring seeds.

The 15 Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools who are receiving Pizza Gardens at their school, nutrition and cooking education and an end-of-the-year pizza party from FUEL Pizza cafe are: Briar Wood Elementary, Chantilly Montessori, Collins Wood Elementary, Davidson Elementary, Elizabeth Traditional Elementary, Idlewild Elementary, JV Washam Elementary, Lake Wylie Elementary, Morehead STEM Academy, Nations Ford Elementary, Winget Park Elementary, University Meadows Elementary, University Meadows Elementary, Barringer Elementary, Highland Mill Elementary and Polo Ridge.
